Our keelboats enjoy weekly club-only races from spring until fall.

Crew Opportunities

Members without boats may reach out to captains for chances to crew and participate in races. 


There are larger regattas four times a year, concluding with the famous Burlington Island Race.

Warning signal for all races is at 10am unless otherwise noted. "Captain Meeting" information will go out electronically.

Regattas are mixed-fleet using Portsmouth-Yardstick Adjusted Time

Saturday Races are decided by the Race Committee and Racing Fleet

We use Low-Point Scoring. 

Winners are decided by the combined average of the series races. If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favor of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used. 

For the 4 regattas (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Burlington Island Race) boats must be registered, boat handicaps recorded and race fees paid prior to the Captain's meeting. Race fees will be posted in the regatta information on the Events page. Captain's Meeting and start times will be posted in the event annoucements.

The Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day regattas are open to public. The Burlington Island Race is RDCC club captains only. Guests may crew. For information, please reach out to the Rear Commodore at

Saturday morning races are closed to RDCC captains only.  Guests may crew. Registration is not needed for Saturday Races that are not the four regattas mentioned above.
Here are some of the typical courses for our club:
We start with a 5,4,1 sequence:

3 HORN BLASTS - Warning
1 HORN BLAST  - 5 minutes to start
1 HORN BLAST  - 4 minutes to start
1 HORN BLAST - 1 minute to start

Most Saturday races we aim for the warning blasts to be at 10am. This is subject to change.
